While much of the Internet spent April fool’s day goofing off, a small team at Cloudflare shipped a CMS project for Astro, claiming it to be “the spiritual successor to WordPress”
Except it’s not a joke. This release comes just a few months after Cloudflare acquired The Astro Technology Company. For such a small project, EmDash CMS carries an intentionally large aspiration.
It’s been widely reported as having a strong security advantage, with its containerization approach to the plugin system. They provide the security you need, with an editor you actually want to use.
Imagine the user-friendliness of WordPress, but without the bloat.
The WordPress brand has taken massive blows over the past year of scandal and controversy.
To mention the founder’s crashout, and subsequent supply chain attack… would require its own space to elaborate. Confidence in WordPress is weak, reaching a drastic low point. There are more reasons than ever to jump ship.
EmDash CMS arrives on the scene at a very critical time.
We believe in the potential of EmDash CMS, and look forward to a great disruption it may bring.
With such a confident pitch out of the gate, we’ll have to pay attention and see if it lives up to the hype.
